As part of KAGC’s Certificate in Tourist Guide program, students are given the opportunity to participate in real-world practical trips designed to enhance their skills and readiness for the tourism industry. Recently, our Malay and English-speaking students embarked on an immersive tour guide training experience in the culturally rich city of Kuching, Sarawak.
This hands-on trip provided a platform for students to demonstrate their ability to manage and conduct live tours. Under the supervision of licensed tourist guide trainers, students took on the roles of lead tourist guides, navigating heritage sites, cultural landmarks, and tourist hotspots. They applied theoretical knowledge to real-life scenarios—engaging with tourists, presenting informative commentary, and coordinating tour activities effectively.
The Kuching trip allowed students to sharpen essential tour guiding competencies such as public speaking, group handling, safety management, and cross-cultural communication. These experiences are crucial for building confidence and professional expertise in guiding both domestic and international travelers.
At KAGC, we are committed to producing certified, high-quality tourist guides in Malaysia who are multilingual, knowledgeable, and industry-ready. Our tourist guide certificate program equips future professionals with both academic foundation and field-based training to thrive in the vibrant tourism sector.
