Ready to unlock these benefits? Don’t miss the chance
Our course typically runs between 4 to 6 months (part-time format), followed by the official licensing assessment.
During the program, expect interactive lectures, group activities, and field trips. There’s a good balance between classroom learning and practical training. If you need to miss a session (for work or personal reasons), our instructors can help you make up the material. The relatively short duration means you could be a licensed guide in under a year from now!
Absolutely. The program is designed to be work-friendly. If you choose the part-time schedule, you can continue with your job and attend classes on weekends or selected evenings. Time management is key, but our students – including teachers, corporate employees, and retirees – have balanced their other responsibilities while completing the course. In fact, many find that what they learn in class (communication skills, cultural knowledge) even benefits their current jobs. We also schedule practical sessions in advance, often on weekends, so you can plan ahead. If you ever have a particularly busy period at work, let us know – we’ll do our best to accommodate.
Graduates often work as full-time or freelance tourist guides, serving local and international clients. Some go on to specialize in heritage tours, eco-tourism, or even build their own guiding brands.
Our support doesn’t end at graduation. We assist you in the tour guide license application to MOTAC, ensuring you submit all required documents correctly. We also provide guidance for the We Are The Host (WATH) short course that you’ll need to take (this is a brief course on hospitality, required by MOTAC after you pass your exams). Additionally, KAGC’s Career Services can connect you with tour agencies and opportunities. You’ll join our alumni network – a great resource for job leads, continuing education (like language classes), and mentorship from experienced guides. We even invite successful alumni back for talks and industry updates, so you’ll always feel connected and supported as you start your guiding career.
To become a tour guide in Malaysia, you must complete a certified Tourist Guide course and pass the government exams. Here’s the process in a nutshell:
You must be a Malaysian aged 18 or older. The basic entry requirement is SPM (Malaysia’s high school certificate) with 6 passes including Bahasa Malaysia (and for SPM 2013 onwards, a pass in History). If you have a higher qualification (like a Diploma or Degree) or at least 5 years of experience in the tourism industry, you’re eligible too. In short – if you have a passion for guiding and a basic educational foundation, this course welcomes you. (Not sure if you qualify? Contact us for a free assessment!).
KAGC’s accreditation ensures graduates gain a nationally respected and government-recognized qualification, certified by MOTAC and JPK. As a member of ATTIM, the program is closely aligned with current tourism industry standards, boosting job readiness upon graduation. Additionally, KAGC’s partnership with MICA opens doors to specialized opportunities in Mandarin-speaking markets and heritage tourism, giving students a competitive edge in Malaysia’s evolving travel landscape.
