• From Kitchen Beginner to Industry-Ready

Three months ago, he did not know how to cook at home, was afraid to handle a knife, and did not even understand how to control the heat. As parents, we naturally wondered, “Is this really the right path for him?” Three months later, I sat at KAGC’s “Jom Makan” and watched hot dishes being served in proper sequence, desserts arranged neatly on plates, and every step carried out just like in a real restaurant. Then I realised that all of this had been prepared by my own child. Someone who rarely stepped into the kitchen at home could now handle ingredients independently, manage cooking and serving times, complete an entire dish under pressure, and confidently explain his work. At that moment, I understood that he had not simply learned how to cook—he was being trained to become someone who is ready to enter the industry.

At KAGC, students are not left to slowly figure things out on their own. From the very beginning, they are trained step by step in an environment that closely reflects the real working world. They learn standard procedures, time management, kitchen discipline, teamwork, and professional presentation requirements. In just three months, what I saw was not simply a student experimenting, but work that already demonstrated strong foundational skills and growing confidence. That experience showed me that practical training can make a real difference in preparing students for the workplace.

That day, I finally felt reassured, because I knew that before entering the workplace, he had already experienced real training. As parents, what we want is actually very simple. We do not need to decide which path our children should take; we only hope they gain the ability and confidence to continue walking the path they choose. Sometimes, the greatest reassurance is knowing that our children are not only learning, but becoming capable, independent, and ready for whatever comes next.
